Prosciutto e Melone

Valentina

It doesn't get any more Italian than the classic combination of fresh melon and salty prosciutto. The best cantaloupe has a robust sweet smell. Avoid sour smelling melons or ones that don't have any odor at all. Enjoy as a light appetizer.

Shopping List
  • 1 ripe cantaloupe melon
  • 8 to 10slices prosciutto crudo (Note 1)
  • balsamic glaze (optional, for drizzling)

Instructions
  1. Step 1: Cut the cantaloupe in half and discard the seeds and any excess water. Slice into wedges and cut off the rind.
  2. Step 2: Drape the prosciutto slices over the melon, about 1 slice per wedge. Note: If serving at a party, it helps to cut the slices into bite-sized pieces and spear with a toothpick.
  3. Serve: Enjoy with an optional drizzle of balsamic glaze. This is best eaten immediately.

Recipe Notes

Note 1: We recommend a high-quality prosciutto, such as Parma or San Daniele.
