Miso Baked Tilapia
Valentina P
Baked tilapia (or other white fish) with a simple 3-ingredient miso glaze. Healthy, tasty, and ready in 15 minutes.
How To MakeDiet Type: Classic
Shopping List
- 2 (5 ounce) tilapia fillets (or sea bass or barramundi)
- 1 tablespoon melted butter, sesame oil, or avocado oil
- 1 1/2 tablespoons white miso paste
- 1/2 tablespoon cane or coconut sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon mirin (we use this one)
- 1/2 tablespoon water
- salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment or foil.
- Step 2: In a small bowl, stir together the miso paste and sugar. Add the mirin and water. Stir until it is a thick but spreadable paste. Set aside.
- Step 3: Rinse and pat the fish fillets dry. Rub them on both sides in the melted butter or oil. Season with a little salt and pepper (not too much salt, because the miso is salty) and place on the lined baking sheet. Use a spoon to smear a generous amount of the miso sauce all over the tops of the fillets. You might have a little leftover depending on the size of your fish.
- Step 4: Bake the fish for 10 to 12 minutes. A thicker fish, like chilean sea bass, may need up to 15 minutes.
- Serve: Top with sesame seeds and/or cilantro if you feel fancy. Enjoy immediately.
