Healthier Ranch Dressing

A thick and creamy homemade ranch dressing recipe made with Greek yogurt, oil, egg, vinegar, and some simple spices. The raw egg acts as the emulsification element, similar to a mayonnaise or aioli. Check out the notes below for ways to make this ranch recipe dairy-free and plant-based too!

Shopping List
  • 3/4 cup grapeseed oil or avocado oil (not extra virgin olive oil)
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek 2% yogurt (Note 2)
  • 1 egg (Note 3)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
  1. Step 1: Add all the ranch dressing ingredients (including the raw egg), to a wide-mouthed mason jar. Use an immersion blender to blend the ingredients until smooth and creamy. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. You could also use a small blender here, slowly adding in the oil until it emulsifies.
  2. Serve: Refrigerate up to 1 week. This is great in Sweet Potato and Ranch Salad, Warm Barbecue Ranch Bowls, or even as a dip for Loaded Greek Fries.

Recipe Notes

Note 1: Recipe inspired by Whole Sisters' infamous Dump Ranch.

Note 2: Want a dairy-free option? Use a thick, Greek-style non-dairy yogurt such as COYO yogurt. Alternatively, use an equal amount of full-fat coconut milk. Shake the can well before using.

Note 3: Want an egg-free option? Try using 1/2 of an avocado. It will turn the ranch paleo green and gives a slight avocado flavor, but it still tastes great. Add a little water to loosen as needed.
