5 Ingredient Banana Snickers

Frozen bananas make the perfect base for this homemade Snickers-inspired recipe. Simply spread some banana pieces with peanut butter, top with crushed peanuts, and then coat each piece in chocolate. Only 5 ingredients, easy to make, and delicious!

Shopping List
  • 1 medium-ripe banana
  • 2 tablespoons salted peanuts (Note 1)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons runny peanut butter
  • 33333333/100000000 cup dairy-free chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • flaky sea salt (optional, for topping))

Instructions
  1. Step 1: Slice each banana in half lengthwise, then chop each half into 3 pieces. This will make a total of 6 banana pieces per banana. Place the banana slices on a small cutting board or wire rack.
  2. Step 2: Smear the peanut butter with a knife generously all over the flat side of the banana pieces. Roughly chop the peanuts into large pieces and halves. Sprinkle the peanuts all over the peanut butter. Place the cutting board or wire rack with the bananas in the freezer for at least 1 hour, or until hardened.
  3. Step 3: Melt the chocolate chips and coconut oil together in a microwaveable bowl or double boiler until super smooth. If using a microwave, heat the mixture in 15 to 30 second increments and stir often to avoid burning.
  4. Step 4: Dipping time! Set up a layer of parchment paper underneath a cooling rack. Perch each banana piece on a fork and dip it into the melted chocolate, coating all of the sides. I like to use a spoon to help pour the chocolate over the banana, catching any of the chocolate drips back in the bowl. Carefully transfer the chocolate-covered banana on the cooling rack and sprinkle lightly with the optional salt. Repeat this process with all of the pieces. Place in the freezer to harden fully.
  5. Serve: Pull out your Banana Snickers from the freezer a few minutes to soften slightly before eating. Enjoy.

Recipe Notes

Note 1: Can't do peanuts? Try substituting the peanut butter with cashew butter and replacing the chopped salted peanuts with chopped salted cashews. Yum.
