Savory Gluten-Free Chex Mix

Valentina

An easy homemade Chex Mix recipe made with plenty of nuts, pretzels, and of course, Chex cereal. Just stir together with some olive oil and worcestershire, bake at low heat, and then toss with savory spices like onion powder, garlic, and little cayenne pepper. Compared to the 1950's original recipe, this variation is more like a nutty trail mix hybrid. Perfect for snacking.

Shopping List
  • 2 cups gluten-free plain Chex cereal (we use this one)
  • 1/2 cup gluten-free pretzels
  • 1/2 cup peanuts
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or brazil nuts
  • 1/4 cup pecan halves
  • 1/4 cup whole cashews
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin seeds
  • 3 tablespoons light olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1 teaspoon vegan worcestershire sauce (or steak sauce)
  • 2 teaspoons nutritional yeast (optional, for cheesy flavor)
  • 3/4 teaspoon onion powder or granuales
  • 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions
  1. Step 1: Preheat the oven to 300°F.
  2. Step 2: Stir together the Chex cereal, pretzels, peanuts, walnuts, pecans, cashews, pumpkin seeds, olive oil, and worcestershire in a large bowl (reserve the seasonings for later). 3. Step 3: Remove the Chex mix from the baking sheet and place in a large bowl. Add the remaining nutritional yeast, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and cayenne. Stir to combine. Taste and adjust seasonings as desired.
  4. Serve: Store in an airtight container on the counter up to one week. Enjoy.
