Air Fryer Burger Dinner

Break out the air fryer with this comforting and easy 30-minute weeknight burger dinner. The trick is in the timing: the broccoli and sweet potatoes cook in the air fryer while the burger patties cook on the stovetop. While this version of sweet potato fries is softer and less crispy than the classic version, it's just as satisfying when enjoyed with your favorite fixings.

Shopping List
  • 2 turkey, beef, or veggie patties
  • 1 large sweet potato(es) (about 8 ounces)
  • 2 slices dairy-free cheese
  • 2 handfuls broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon all-purpose seasoning of choice (Note 1)
  • salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions
  1. Step 1: Toss the broccoli florets in 1 tablespoon of the olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon of the seasoning, and salt and pepper to taste. Heat the air fryer to 380°F. Place the seasoned broccoli in the air fryer basket and cook for 7 to 9 minutes, stirring once. The broccoli will be done when it is crisp and lightly browned. Set aside.
  2. Step 2: Cut the sweet potato into 1/4 inch thin french fry shapes. Toss with the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon seasoning, and salt and pepper. Heat the air fryer to 390°F. Place the seasoned fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket and cook for 9 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. If the fries are browning too quickly, try lowering the heat to 360°F. The fries will be done when they are tender and lightly browned.
  3. Step 3: Meanwhile, cook the patties in a frying pan over medium-high heat (about 3 minutes per side depending on the thickness). Right before the patty is done cooking, place the cheese slice on top and cover the pan with a lid to let the steam melt the cheese.
  4. Serve: Assemble your plate with the warm cooked patty, broccoli, and fries. Add your favorite fixings and enjoy.

Recipe Notes

Note 1: Any preferred seasoning blend will work well here. If you don't have a blend, try an equal parts combination of smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
